ROADMAP

AIMS’ open standards are based on the roadmap established by SMPTE 2022-6, VSF TR-03 and VSF TR-04 to solve the basic challenges inherent in using IP technology for broadcast operations. These guidelines are built upon the foundation of work done by the VSF, the AMWA, the SMPTE and the EBU. AIMS’ own membership participates in these organizations. It is precisely because our industry enjoys a robust set of standards bodies that AIMS seeks to foster the adoption of their work.

This roadmap is the only set of IP standards in the broadcast industry that has been developed using a collaborative, non-proprietary approach. As a result, it has the support of more organizations than any other and is particularly well-suited to support the future needs of the industry as well as current technological transitions.

UPDATING THE ROADMAP

AIMS Integrated Proposal #2

AIMS ratified the following AIMS proposal January 2017

AMWA NMOS ‘Discovery and Registration Proposed Specification (IS-04)’ be added to the AIMS Roadmap.”

AIMS Integrated Proposal #3

AIMS ratified the following AIMS proposal April 2018

“Upon ratification by SMPTE, the AIMS roadmap be modified to include the following SMPTE 2110 standards:”

  • SMPTE 2110-10: System Timing and Definitions
  • SMPTE 2110-20: Uncompressed Active Video
  • SMPTE 2110-30: PCM Digital Audio

AIMS Integrated Proposal #4

AIMS ratified the following AIMS proposal January 2018

The AIMS TWG recommends amending the AIMS published roadmap to indicate AMWA IS-04 and AMWA IS-05

The AMWA IS04 and IS05 Specifications provide key capabilities for device registration, discovery and connection management critical for deployment of SMTPE ST 2110-based scalable IP systems.  The IS04 and IS05 Specifications are the fruits of an ongoing cross-industry development process; AIMS members are committed to working with and through AMWA in support of the necessary optimization of these specifications to provide for more complete systems capabilities.

AIMS Integrated Proposal #5

AIMS ratified the following AIMS proposal April 2019

The AIMS Roadmap shall be amended to include JT-NM TR-1001-1
